Tuesday, august 8th: English is everywhere, and we celebrate it again! The English department worked with students for this day creating amazing acrostics with words that represent the spirit of each class, they also created beautiful poems, thoughts and micro-tales that decorated as green leaves the winter trees. Everything was ready for our English Day 2023. At 10.45 AM, the celebration began with the opening ceremony, led by the English Department formed by miss Elizabeth Muñoz, miss Elsis Pérez, miss Dominique Chahuán, miss Fanny Romero and mister Patricio Craig. 

During this ceremony, two students gave a speech about the importance of the English language in front of all their schoolmates from grades 1 to 12. Afterwards, students from grade 1 gave us a beautiful musical performance, led by teacher Fernando Neculpan. Then, we enjoyed a show of Barbie and Ken, performed by students from the 12th grade, singing and dancing for all of us.

After this ceremony, everyone had to go to their designated stage, where two competitions were going to take place: the Spelling Bee contest, and our traditional “Singing for a Seven” competition.

It was a very difficult task for the judges, some of them were teachers from our school, and in the stage 4 (8º a III medio) the judges were Gustavo Plaza and Katie Mulleage, from the Universidad Católica English Program.

Everyone had a very good time, and most of our singers got to get their precious “7,0”. In the Spelling Bee contest, the category winners were:

PK – Kinder: Amanda López (Kinder B)

Primero Básico: Matilde Aranda (1º Básico A)

Segundo Básico: Roberto Kafstanski (2º Básico C)

3º y 4º Básico: Santiago Zunino (4º Básico B)

5º a 7º Básico: Isidora Guamán (6º Básico C)

8º a III medio: Martina Muñoz (8º Básico B)

We would like to thank our 12th grade students for their help as Senior English Assistants, the teachers who participated as judges, all the teachers who supported the activities, and of course, to all the students for their motivation and enthusiasm.
